It’s back to Munich airport to meet with Frank. I am really glad that he is able to join me for a few days while I am in Europe and gives us the opportunity to catch up once again, since the last I saw Frank was in Singapore in December 2015, when he was there for a business trip.
I took the 6.50am bus from Nuremburg – this time round I was no longer the only passenger on the bus as there were 8 other people on board. Am I glad that the hostel is just located next to the bus terminal! Very early morning, and got to see the sun rise while enroute to the airport.
Upon Frank’s arrival, we went to pick up our car rental, which turned out to be a really nice car to use for the next few days – Mercedes Benz C Class!
We made a pit stop at Lake Chiemsee, located 1.5hrs from the Munich Airport, for lunch. Lake Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria and was a perfect pit stop, as the views from the restaurant was fantastic.
Great start to our road trip!
Hotel Seebrunn was a 1 hour drive from Lake Chiemsee, and is located next to Lake Wallersee, about 20 minutes drive from Salzburg. This will be where we will be staying for the next 2 days – small boutique hotel with an Asian touch to its decor, and very friendly staff.
Check out the pictures of the lake next to our hotel!
First order upon checking in… Frank decided to take a quick dip in the water to start off his holiday. I chickened out upon realising how cold the water was, and decided it was nicer to laze in the private deck chairs next to the lake and enjoy the sun :D
Ended off the day with a very yummy dinner at a local traditional Austrian restaurant accompanied by a bottle of Cuvee, to celebrate the 1st day of our road trip (realized I forgot to take pictures)… Ahh, the good life!
The Austrian restaurant was located about 2km from our hotel, and we had taken a taxi out instead of driving since we were going to be drinking. The way back got tricky, as we took a walk towards the hotel, but the weather got too chilly for us and thus walked into the next nearest bar to get help with calling for a cab. However the owner of the bar said that a taxi would take about an hour to reach us.
It was timely that one of the guest at the bar was about to head home and offered to take us back to our hotel. Very kind old man, but we also suspected that he wanted to show off his new 3 month old Mercedes Benz, as he was boasting about his car a few times enroute to our hotel!
