Big Trip 2 : T-1

Doing last minute packing, and I am struggling to fit it all into my luggage – the same luggage I used on my last big trip.  You would think that by the 2nd time, I would know better huh?

Met with Aliang a few days ago, and he said that if he was to go on a long trip again, he will carry a smaller bag than what he used the last time.  It might be easier for guys to pack lesser, however as a female, we have a few more requirements to factor in.

Big Trip 2 – Cuba, Mexico, Central America, Germany

12 more days and counting down!  Never expected that I will get a chance to go on another long trip, albeit likely no where as close to the duration I went previously.

Things happen for a reason, and as usual, chose countries that are farthest to get to from Singapore.  Reason being it’s likely that I will never get to travel to those countries on a normal leave while working full time.

Time to start thinking of how I can be more mobile yet still earning a decent income! Smile

From plans, its looking to be about 4.5months of travelling, covering :

  • Germany (Munich and Bavaria region)
  • Mexico
  • Cuba (woohoo, finally!)
  • Belize
  • Guatemala
  • Honduras
  • El Salvador
  • Nicaragua
  • Costa Rica

Last day at work (T-4)

I feel blessed to know that I have such wonderful colleagues!

Thanks for all the numerous well wishes and notes of appreciation, and of course for all the gifts, messages that made me laugh and not to forget… this (see below)….

Last week at work (T-7)

It’s the last 4 days of work (last day being Thursday 7th July)!

I came into office this morning and my boss asked me to her room as she wanted to show me something.

Considering the role played in the organisation and the number of colleagues I had interacted with closely, both locally and overseas, she felt that I deserved some recognition and heartfelt thanks for the work I had done and thus had drafted an email over the weekend to announce my departure, and she wanted to make sure that I was ok with the contents before sending it out.

T-8

8 more days to my flight!  OK, maybe I should regard it as 7, since my flight is taking place in the wee hours of the 11th, and which means I have to be at the airport on Sunday.

I’ve got most of the bigger items done BUT there’s still SOOOOO much miscellaneous stuff that needs to be done!!!

Backpack – Osprey Meridian 75Lt

After spending several months deciding which backpack to go for, I finally decided on the model and got round to getting it today!

It’s an Osprey Meridian (travel wheels, convertible).  The main pack is 55Lt, and comes with a detachable 20Lt. day pack.

Life of a Professional Bummer!

In 31 days, I am officially a professional bummer!

Yes, you heard it right!  I have finally tendered my resignation last Friday after a constant few months of decision making struggle.  Never did I imagine that tendering would have been this emotional and difficult, and to be filled with a heavy heart throughout the weekend.

More Action, Less Procrastination

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" ~ Confucius

It has been a few months since I shared of a plan with some friends about taking a big break from work to travel to South America.  However minimal action has been done towards making it happen.

With a targeted date of departure in July, it is time I should stop procrastinating and move towards putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

Wish me luck!

Day 169 - 170 : Flight back to Singapore

I left Stefano's house at 7.45am to catch the 8.07am train to the airport, which later required switching to an airport shuttle from T2 ...
