Day 22 : Car Rental

Yay!  Alberto and Rita has come back with the car for our road trip tomorrow!

We are excited because we had so much difficulty getting a car!  There were only 2 car companies which had car available on the days we wanted them and none of the car companies were willing to deliver the car to us (car rental companies are mainly located in Chios town, which is 50km away).

 

Since we couldn’t get the car delivered to us, we had to travel to Chios town either by taxi or bus. 

Scrub the taxi option as it was too expensive (cost the same as renting a car for 1 day!) and because of the below conversation :

Me : Is this the taxi company? I need a taxi at Volissos.

Taxi Company : (In broken Greek English) No taxi today.  Taxi in Chios town on strike.

Me : On strike?!? Are you going to be on strike on Wednesday too? (This is when everyone on the boat burst out laughing as they didn’t expect that this question will be asked)

Taxi Company : Don’t know.  Call back again.

Me : How much is 1 way from Volissos to Chios?

Taxi Company : Euro 50.

So a big thanks to Alberto and Rita for taking the effort to travel 1 hour into Chios town by bus, which happens to only run on alternate days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), twice a day (early morning and late afternoon).

Moa, Tuula and I on the other hand, went to a nice long stretch of beach about 10 minutes walk from the harbour, that was discovered by Moa when she went exploring around the area.

It had really clear water, and was perfectly refreshing to have a dip on a hot day. 

And for those who complain that I have not been doing enough cam-whoring, here’s one for the day! ;)
