True enough, while having breakfast, it started snowing outside, though it immediately melted when it fell on the ground.
It's already April and supposed to be Spring, but it's snowing?!? Feels like the skies are playing April Fool's prank on us!
Delphine was going to head into the border town on the Spain side to pump petrol as it was cheaper over there than in France as well as to get some groceries, and there was a place in that area (Maspormenos), where sports wear and shoes are sold at discounted prices, so I joined her to the border town of Dantxarinea.
As we went up in altitude as we cross from France to Spain, we had more snow fall on the road, which thankfully didn't create too much havoc on the roads.
Delphine was really nice and patient while I did my shoe shopping, where I spent about an hour and finally came out with a pair of trekking shoes for €59!
Time to retire my Timberland boots, and especially when the right side has already developed a hole through the lining too.
The supermarket had a huge range of liquor, including these in the barrel.
Also saw a huge Chuppa Chup. How long will it take for me to finish this? 😂
We then drove back through the cute village of Ainhoa on the France side where we stopped briefly to visit the church and the town. We can even see some of the mountains in the distance covered with snow!
We continued on to the town of Anglet to France Asia, one of the largest Asian grocery stores in the area to get some Asian sauces and items so that I can cook a couple of Asian dishes during my stay at Thierry's, before heading back.
Originally planning to cook Thai food (pad krad pao and tom yum soup), I had to change to spicy chicken udon because it appears that getting minced chicken or pork is close to almost impossible in France, and we weren't sure if we could get long beans or French beans at the supermarket.
So appreciative of the variety and options we can get in Singapore!
