The last bus for the day from Giron to Cienfuegos had left for the day. The only option left was to take a taxi to Cienfuegos.
Rodolfo had made arrangements with a local for the transport for CUC35.00. When my ride arrived, I could sense some uncertainty with some members of the group on whether I would make it to my destination or if the car would break down enroute!
The car was a Pontiac and was 50 years old!!! The driver was quite protective of his car, as I accidentally closed the door a little harder than I should have.
The ride to Cienfuegos took 90 mins, and passed through small villages in the countryside, a very pleasant drive and luckily no issues with the car!
Along route, the taxi driver tried bargaining to get me to pay CUC5 more but I stood my ground since everyone agreed on CUC35 at the onset.
The Casa de Particular (Hostal Teresa) was run by Teresa and located close to the water. I was very pleasantly surprised as the house was modern, and so far being one of the nicest I had been to since I have been in Cuba.
My room was a private standalone unit located behind the main house with my own attached bathroom and was huge with 2 big beds – all for CUC20/night – cheapest since I had been in Cuba too!
Strongly recommend!
