We will not be seeing much civilisation over the next 3 days, as we set off from Alonnisos this morning to explore the nearby islands and bays and will not be anchoring at any port.
As there was not much wind, we went on motor and finally stopped at a bay in Kyra Panagia and anchored. This is also the place which we are spending the night in, however before that, we need to settle dinner!
Greek fishermen friends of Alberto, Lakis & Stelio (which I subsequently affectionately called Obelix and Asterix, due to Lakis’ cheerful outlook and size, and since Stelio is often with Lakis) met us at Kyra Panagia as agreed from the night before.
They subsequently asked if we would like to tag along in their fishing boat to catch some fish to prepare fish soup for tonight’s dinner. Keen to experience the local life, we went along and did some fishing!
We spent 3 hours fishing, and though fishes were actually bountiful, most of the fish we caught weren’t as sizeable as I thought we might have encountered. Nevertheless, we had more than sufficient for Obelix to prepare a good meal of fish soup, accompanied by his home-made wine, which was amazingly tasty with a pleasant fruity aroma to it!
Ahh…. This is LIFE!
