Our plan was to sail to Chios island, today, however according to weather forecast, the winds will not be in our favour. As such, we decided to stay one more night in Lesvos, and motored our way to Tarti, a bay located 10 mins away from where we were staying yesterday.
Tarti was highly recommended by Costas, a young man whom we first met in Mithimna and again 2 nights ago at Mytilini harbour, who was travelling on another boat with his parents and sister. And it was indeed a good recommendation!
We arrived to a nice little beach spot with beach umbrellas and deck chairs laid out across the beach, but yet maintaining a quiet and homely feel about the place.
Not long after
we arrived, while we were keeping the sails and putting out the dinghy in the water, we saw some people trying to dig some sand away from the front wheels of a red sedan car on the beach. We realised that it must have driven on to the beach and got stuck in the sand.
It was lucky that after some digging, the car managed to reverse itself onto more solid path. (First a plunging motorbike into the harbour and now driving a sedan car onto the beach?!? What are Greeks thinking!)
We spent the rest of the day doing almost nothing, other than some swims in the refreshingly cold sea water, working on tan lines or reading a book. Ahhh.. total relaxation!
Dinner time came and we decided that we shall take the dinghy and head to one of the restaurants on the beach.
We ordered 2 plates of almost everything… grilled sardines, fried anchovies and fried zucchini flower stuffed with cheese, 1 plate of potato chips, as well as some wine and a beer for Rita.
Food was good, and our tummies were all very happy.
We were even more pleasantly surprised when the bill came!
Euro 37 for 5 pax!!! That is barely Euro 7.50 per person and at a beach restaurant! What a bargain!
