Day 21 : The Morning After in Tarti

“Boom.. Boom.. Boom.. Boom.. Boom..”

I startled out of bed thinking it was gun shots when I saw some lights from the ceiling window of my cabin.  Fireworks!!!  I quickly rushed out on deck and the fireworks that were released from the beach has just ended.

Headed back down to my cabin and looked at my watch.  It’s 12.03am!  A few minutes later I started hearing an electronic guitar playing and some drums, thinking that perhaps some kids were trying to play the instruments for the very 1st time.

What is happening?  Are there still

people on the beach?  Don’t they know that it is past midnight?

And then the music got louder as the electronic instruments seemed to have been plucked into amplifiers and started playing together.  The music wasn’t too bad at some point, but it was just loud as everyone on the boat was trying to sleep.

And it got worse.  A guy started singing and though I couldn’t understand what he sang, he was constantly out of tune and he didn’t have a good voice!  It was torture to the ears!  Hasn’t anyone started throwing stones or rotten tomatoes yet?!?

I quickly rummaged  my luggage for ear plugs, and plugged it into my ears.  It didn’t help too much as the noise could still be heard.  I must have drifted in and out of sleep, checking to see if the ear plugs were still in the ears with each time I woke up.

And then silence… Finally!!!

Woke up this morning and asked Moa over breakfast if she managed to sleep last night, since she has been sleeping with ear plugs on the last few nights.  Apparently music was playing till 4am this morning, with a short break at 2am.

Gosh!  People party late into the night in this small little beach, which is far from town.  I suppose there isn’t much entertainment available around this area if a band of that quality can actually be performing for 4 hours!

Time to get ready and check wind forecast on making our journey to Chios!
