It's been raining most of the night, and so I woke up to a very dreamy view of St. Stephan Monastery with a foggy backdrop of Meteora.
I am so thankful that I had great weather yesterday while visiting Meteora and very proud of myself for being able to walk and see all of them in 1 day! I even saved €50 for that, bonus!
Check out time at Meteora Central Backpackers was 10.30am, so I spent the next couple hours updating IG and this blog, before grabbing a quick Gyros lunch.
I got to the train station at about 12.45pm, and there was already a train stopped a short distance away from the platform. There were already a few people waiting on the platform and I just assumed that it was where I needed to be to board the train.
A while later, another train arrived from the opposite direction on the same tracks about 5 mins to 1pm. So I later realised that it seems the train station is only using 1 platform and the train I boarded will head back in the same direction it came from.
This will be my 2nd train ride on this trip, after catching the train from Mostar to Sarajevo.
There was a need to change trains about 1 hr later in the town of Palaeofarsalos. I was supposed to be on coach 8, the last coach on the train, so I went to the end of the train. But for some reasons, they decided to switch the cars around, so I ended up having to walk my way through to the other end of the train instead.
It was a relatively packed train, with almost no spare seats around. Arriving into Athens train station Larissa at 4.25pm, I had to change to another train to get to Rouf, which is the nearest rail station to the hostel Art of Living, which I finally got to at about 5.15pm.
Check out the funky lights in the hostel hallway!
There's also 2 pools, one on the rooftop and another in the basement, but it's not advisable to some in it, as no one have any idea when it was last cleaned.
I was starving and headed straight to dinner not too long after checking in, at Atlantikos, a seafood restaurant recommended by the hostel, and ordered a mixed seafood platter and a Greek salad.
I've missed eating such fried seafood, and the meal was absolutely delightful!
Having an Asian craving, I searched for the nearest Asian grocery and bought a few packets of different instant noodles, to be taken for breakfast over the next few days.
On the way back, I passed a really strange looking structure, which looked like something out of a "fight club" or a Gladiator's Ring.
I'll explore more of Athens tomorrow... Let's see what's new in town or has changed.
