Day 93 : Enroute to Chinatown

Had a busy morning fixing up visas for the trip ahead at both the Bolivia and Brazil Consulate that I was too tired to do major sightseeing in the afternoon.

So I took a long walk to Chinatown, cutting through the parks and greens of Buenos Aires

The parks were filled with a couple of big lakes, and what I found interesting was that the geese comes really close to people in the parks, even without being fed!

Hippodromo ArgentinaI continued my way past the parks and came across a building which houses the paddocks and the horse racing circuit (Hippodromo Argentina).  It felt intimidating to go in, with all the security guards at the entrances and thought you had to be a member for entry (which I later found out that it was open to public).  So I continued my way and saw a polo club on the opposite side of the road.

There were horses on the field and I realised there was a match going on.  Looked exciting, and since I never watched a polo match live, I proceeded to the main entrance and asked the security guard for permission to take a look around.

Apparently it was open to the public and so I took the opportunity to catch the polo match – my first!  It was a beautiful sight seeing the horses galloping on the HUGE field and I was amazed how the players are so agile in manoeuvring both the horse and hitting / chasing the ball on the field with the stick in the other hand.  No easy feat!

Chinatowns are usually easy to recognise, as I soon came across the main landmark to signify the start of it.

Chinatown is fairly small in this city with approximately only 2 short streets selling Asian foodstuff and many stores selling clothing and apparels with China or Taiwan origin.  Not many Chinese restaurants here surprisingly!  Guess it is not that popular here.

And of course, I managed to do some Asian food shopping to satisfy my cravings!
