So you think that Rio de Janeiro is the only place with a huge statue of Jesus Christ?
Before coming into Bolivia, I thought the same way, and only found out that there is another Christo here in Cochabamba, and apparently it is even taller than the one in Rio!
Also perched on top of a hill, it was definitely much cheaper visiting the Christo here, than in Rio. Craftsmanship is definitely not as refined as the one in Rio, though the facial aspects of Christo in Cochabamba is much more defined than the one in Rio.
The view in Rio is also much nicer, though one can get a good bird’s eye view of Cochabamba from here too.
It is definitely way less crowded as there were probably only about 30 people at the top here as compared to the few hundred people in Rio when I visited.
It is quite a huge city, though not a lot more to see in Cochabamba other than Cancha market, located close to the bus terminal.
Apparently this is the largest market in entire Bolivia, and I got lost within the market a number of times, finding my way out through the many aisles in this market.
One can find a whole array of things here, from clothes, apparels, bicycles, electronic gadgets and phones, to food including meat, fish, fruits, cakes etc.
As for the city scene, it feels like I am in Philippines, with the buildings and traffic in the streets, and seeing colourful buses drive by from time to time.
I felt rather safe as one can find a number of police officers around.
Nevertheless, between Cochabamba and Sucre, I much prefer Sucre.
