Again, this is another non planned stop, where I spent 1.5 day over the New Year's eve!
Manizales is also located on the northern part of the coffee triangle, with great views of the valleys and if the weather is good, possible to see some snow capped mountains.
It also has some good hot springs nearby, which unfortunately I did not have time to go and also things seem to be closed for the New Year's!

Cathedral
|
Was recommended to visit this city, as was told that it has an interesting topography and some interesting sights including the Cathedral, which is the 3rd tallest in South America (at 113m tall) and built in a neo-gothic style.
The views here are simply magnificent from the city centre and Chipre (a neighbourhood near the city centre), as it overlooked down the valleys to the surrounding villages.
Oneof my favourite picture! |
I also found out that there is a fiera here starting tomorrow for 1 week, which is going to be crazy partying and the hostel which I am staying in is expected to be packed throughout the week (total opposite atmosphere from New Year's eve!).
I would probably be keen to stay a couple of days to see what it was like if I had known about the Fiera earlier, but due to time schedule I have to move on next to Medellin, located 4.5 hours away by bus!
