It is Robin's birthday today. I had headed out earlier in the morning to take a walk around the city and to settle some personal stuff, before heading back to Robin´s place. While on the way back to Robin's house, a car suddenly stopped halfway along the street and to my surprise it was Miguel (Robin´s brother), and in the back seat was Robin.
They were on their way to lunch, and was hoping I could join them, but as I had no contact number, I was lucky that I had run into them on their way out!
So we headed to an asado (BBQ) place which was about 45 minutes drive away! There were a total of 6 of us (Robin´s 2 brothers and their wives, Robin and I), and when we got to the asado, there was an extremely long queue at the counters!
It was located in a wonderful setting though, with outdoor seating in the gardens overlooking the mountain ranges. Huge amount of food (we were all too hungry and I forgot to take a picture of the food!), and delicious!
We laid down in the gardens after our meal to enjoy the sun, before it was decided to head to the movies - my first in 6 months!
We arrived at the theatres while Miguel queued to get the tickets for ¨Tin Tin¨ and in 3D. Cinema ticket prices were split between regular seats and premium seats (premium seats defined as better location in the cinema), and I was surprised to see that the regular seat prices were approximately the same price as in Singapore.
Watching movies in Colombia must be for the people who are better off, especially considering that the average salary for most people are in the low hundreds per month.
Movie was shown in English with Spanish subtitles, and it was interesting to note that the Spanish name for Tin Tin´s dog is ¨Milu¨ and not ¨Snowy¨ (or an equivalent Spanish translation). I think there was also a different name for Thomson and Thompson, though I can´t remember what it was.
A nice relaxing way to spend a weekend in Bogota!
