Day 39 : La Feria de Malaga

After 3.5 hours of bus ride, I arrived in Malaga.  This was not on my original travel route, but had decided to include in at a later stage as I found out that this was Picasso’s original birthplace and there is an art gallery dedicated to him here.  Malaga was also termed the “city of Paradise” by a number of writers who were not born in Malaga, so we shall see!

I had some difficulties booking accommodation a few days ago, and only found out that there is a Fair (La Feria) going on.

And oh boy was it crowded!

The streets were filled with people, each holding big glasses of drinks in their hands (It is only 4pm in the afternoon, and some were already drunk!) and many of which are dressed up in traditional costumes, and donning either a hat or a big flower in their hair.  And people were just dancing away!

Apparently the La Feria is on-going for this whole week, and it is expected to get a little more crazy tomorrow and Saturday since it is the weekend.

I walked for a couple of hours in the streets to experience the atmosphere and after a while decided to head back to the hostel to get some quiet time, and to also cool down from being in the heat and crowds.

The hostel is quite cool as one of the staff has cooked a HUGE pan of Paella accompanied by a glass of Sangria for dinner for some of the residence (no pictures unfortunately as I forgot to bring my camera).

I decided to join so as to stay away from the crowd on the streets for the night, and it was cheap!  Good way to get to mingle and know some of the people who is staying in the same building too.

The other cool thing is the showers… check this out!  Yes, there are 2 of them in the toilet!
