I was excited as I saw the view of Rio de Janeiro city from the top, and couldn’t wait to arrive.
After about 2.5 hours flight from Salvador, I arrived at the airport.
For a big city, I wasn’t too impressed with their airport! There would usually be a tourist information counter (and usually very helpful and comprehensive) at the main bus station or at the airport in all the other cities I have been to. But I could hardly even find it in Rio as it was hidden in one small corner, and worse still, it was empty!
I was stuck trying to find a way to get out of the airport into the city area to find a place to stay. I was lucky that I managed to get some help from the airport information counter, since they generally do not provide city related information.
So I made my way towards Copacabana beach on a bus, which took about 2 hours to reach from the airport and then about another hour just to settle down. What a prolonged time taken to travel! There goes one day in Rio!
