Day 71 : Trindade Beach Mix-Up

We had slept in after a crazy night of partying that ended about 3.30am, filled with many drinks and laughs (along with a couple of broken glasses and some damaged property… which is another long story!).  Both Aliang and his host Joulien had stayed over at Matheus’ place since it was late to ride back to Joulien’s place and the weather outside was too cold at that hour!

After a late breakfast, the plan was decided that Joulien and Aliang will head back to Joulien’s place to get change and we will meet them at Trindade Beach in a couple of hours.  So off they went while Matheus and I got ready to head out.

We walked over to Matheus buggy, which was parked just outside the main gate since last night, so that the guests could easily spot Matheus place, as there were no street lamps along the area and finding the place would be difficult.

He started his buggy, but it wouldn’t budge.  So we tried pushing the buggy down a gradient slope to see if it would help but alas it still couldn’t start.  Matheus lifted up his backseat and it was then he realised that someone had stolen his battery!  Oh no!

As there was no mobile network access where Joulien stays and prior arrangement had already been made with Joulien and Aliang, he suggested that I take a bus to Trindade on my own and meet up with them.  He was explaining how to get there when his auntie drove past, who subsequently stopped and offered me a ride to the bus terminal to catch my connection to Trindade.

Directions to beachAfter a 20 minute drive in Matheus’ auntie’s car, and an hour bus ride, I finally arrived in Trindade at about 3pm.  It is a small beachside town, with 3 main beaches, and a natural swimming pool.  Not knowing which beach the arrangement were made to meet, I headed towards the nearest one – Praia dos Ranchos

It’s a fairly nice long stretch of sandy beach, and what I liked about it was that it was not crowded.  I held back on going for a swim until I could confirm which beach Aliang and Joulien was on.

Received a reply from Aliang about 45 minutes later, and it turned out that Joulien had decided to go to a beach near the centre of Paraty instead of riding an hour to Trindade, due to some delays at home.  So we decided that we will meet up tomorrow instead and quickly made arrangements while both of us had network access (It feels like back in the days when we had no mobile phones!  What would we do without technology?).

I considered moving to explore the other beaches in Trindade and to check out the natural swimming pool.  However as I was planning to catch the 5pm bus back to Paraty while it was still bright (sun sets about 6.00pm here!), I decided that I will just spend the next half hour at Praia dos Ranchos before heading to the bus station to catch my connection back to Matheus place.

Guess I shall try to check out the other beaches and the natural swimming pool over the next couple of days!
