Day 63 : Recovering from a Night Out in Salvador

Finally broke the waking up at 6.30am as spell, as slept in till about 11.30am after getting back at 4.30am this morning after being shown a night out in Salvador City by Tarso and Edson.

We headed out at about midnight and first tried entering a club, which we later realised we couldn’t enter as I had not brought any identification documents out with me.  Apparently the club was rather strict and needed proof of ID that one is above 21 years of age before admittance.

So we made our way to another bar that had live music playing and managed to enter without any problems.  The bar wasn’t really big, but got packed quite quickly, which could be due to a good live band in the house.

The lead singer had good vocals and sang a mixture of English and Portuguese rock songs throughout the night.

We left at about 3am when the band ended its number, and I would have loved to go back home, but was dragged to another place, where a DJ was spinning some music.  The club was extremely packed, and I didn’t like too much the squeeze and was quite glad that we left after about an hour.

Clubbing in Brazil isn’t cheap.  Almost every place charged a cover, which for example, in the 1st place we tried entering, they charged a cover of BRL25.00 per entry for women and BRL30.00 for men.  The 2nd place which had a live band was BRL10.00 and the last place was BRL15.00 for women and BRL20.00 for men.

The cover charge does not include any drinks, so which means one has to pay for drinks consumed on top of the covers!

Brazilians also drink a lot!  I had only 2 capirinhas the whole night, but both Tarso and Edson must have had about 7-8 bottles of beer.

This was also the case in Natal when I was shown the nightlife, as all of them drank ALOT!

What’s more surprising is that most of them usually drive, and there doesn’t seem to be any law about drink driving in Brazil.  Perhaps there was, just not really imposed at all!
