Headed to the bus terminal in Recife to catch the 6.45pm bus to Salvador. It is going to be a long 14 hour bus ride, and decided that I will take an early dinner before boarding the bus.
I have seen Bob’s Burgers a number of times across the places I have visited so far, and guessed that this must be a local fast food joint in Brazil. Decided to give it a try, and I must say, even their fast food is really expensive!
I took a meal called “Double Cheddar”, which is similar to a double cheeseburger from MacDonald’s, which comes with a medium coke and fries, and that came up to BRL 14.25 (almost S$11.00)!
They have other options that are similar to MacDonald’s Big Mac and Quarter Pounder, which cost about BRL 16.00 – 18.00.
Well, the burger looked pathetic.. Not being a big fan of fast food, MacDonald’s actually fared better as at least they have pickles in their burger!
Taste wise of Bob’s Burgers was just average, so I guess I will avoid this burger joint from now on!
Headed over to the bus platform to wait for the bus. Buses in Brazil doesn’t seem to leave punctually. From Pipa – Recife, the bus left about 30 minutes after its scheduled time, and in Recife, it was also again about another 40 minutes of wait.
I do have to however give bus companies credit on luggage safety as they tagged your luggage with a sticker (similar to when you check in your luggage at the airport), which you will have to show at time of disembarkation to collect it. So I just have to be sure I don’t lose my luggage docket!
The bus finally arrived and it was slightly more comfortable than the one I took from Pipa – Recife, with blankets provided for the long road ahead. It might have been the late night from the previous night, plus accumulation of lack of sleep (I have been waking up at 6.30am every morning since I arrived in Brazil! I think it has something to do with the sun, as by 6.30am the sun is already sky high making it feels like 11am!), and thus was able to sleep through most of the way.
I finally arrived in Salvador bus station at about 9am. It was quite a bustling and big terminal. A good judge of the size of a place is when there’s a MacDonald’s in sight! It is probably the first time I have also seen a MacDonald’s since I have arrived in Brazil!
