Day 79 : Iguaçu Falls – Brazil Side

Wow!  The weather is hot here!  Total contrast from the weather in the other parts of Brazil I had been in for the last 1 week.

As I will only be spending a night in Foz do Iguaçu, I quickly dropped my stuff shortly after arriving and headed out towards the Iguaçu Falls.  Entrance fee wasn’t cheap, but it is definitely a MUST SEE in Brazil

It was absolutely stunning and magnificent!  Words alone can’t describe the view, and there was a really well laid out path to walk and view the falls.

There are 2 sides to the famous Iguaçu Falls – The Brazil and the Argentina side. I have received mixed reviews from people, each telling me that one side is more beautiful than the other.

While at the falls, I met a Singaporean couple (Jacqueline and Andrew).  They had visited this side of the falls 2 days ago, and the Argentina side yesterday, and have decided to come back a 2nd time to visit the Brazil side again, and they both felt that they prefer the Brazil side.  I guess I will decide after tomorrow when I go over to Argentina

They also commented that the force of the falls is much stronger today than 2 days ago, and the water was also much browner and muddier in colour than the last time they visited the falls.

We had a good chat and they were very envious about my travel plans as they are only going to be in South America for about 14 days.  We continued walking on together for most part of the way and came to a point called “Devil’s Throat”, which contains a bridge built in the middle of the falls at this spot, and one will get absolutely wet while trying to walk along this bridge.

As they had been to this spot before, Jacqueline lent me her umbrella to walk the bridge to minimise getting soaked and to protect my camera.  It helped a little, but I still got wet from the mist generated from the force of the pounding water.

We stayed on for a while longer before leaving for the day.  Will head into Argentina side of Iguaçu Falls tomorrow and decide which I like better!
