Day 76 : Penthouse in Florianopolis

I arrived in Florianopolis and headed to Leonardo’s house.  The moment I got into the house I was WOW-ed!  It was a penthouse, with a large area split over two floors and with great panoramic sea view.

Leonardo had given me his address earlier, which included the words “penthouse'” but I had not paid too much attention to it as thought it could be a way that Brazilians upmarket their accommodation by name only.

I also arrived in time to join him and his brother as well as 2 of their other friends for lunch at his home, and it was a HUGE spread!  There was salad, rice, chicken, and a few other side dishes prepared by their housekeeper, and lunch ended off with a delicious cake made of lemon and cheese based on a German recipe.

We stayed in to chat for a while before Leonardo took me out for a drive to show me around Florianopolis.  The weather in Florianopolis is a little unpredictable – one minute it drizzled and a few moments later it stopped.

It was rather chilly outside though, so we made quick stops at Lagoa da Conceicao (a big lake) and a couple of other beaches on the northwest of the island before heading home for dinner (also filled with good food!) and relaxing indoors, as we will need to be up early to go on a trek!
